VISION

The guiding vision and purpose of the connect team is to build a God-centered community, and to encourage our church in its pursuit of Christlikeness.

God has called us to pursue Him in the context of community. This is where the everyday stuff of discipleship happens. The gospel brings together the most unlikely of people; it causes friendships to form and flourish in a society where division and enmity is the norm.

People come to the Church looking for a place to belong. It is our desire to create an environment in which families, young people, singles, the disparaged, and the outcast can find a place to belong. Our aim is to build longer tables for fellowship with God and one another, not higher fences that separate, divide, and isolate.

And they continued steadfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and in prayers. Then fear came upon every soul, and many wonders and signs were done through the apostles. Now all who believed were together, and had all things in common, and sold their possessions and goods, and divided them among all, as anyone had need. So continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, they ate their food with gladness and simplicity of heart, praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily those who were being saved. (Act 2:42-47 NKJV)

And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works, not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as [is] the manner of some, but exhorting [one another], and so much the more as you see the Day approaching. (Hebrews 10:24-25 NKJV)

VALUES

Longer Tables (Not Taller Fences)

  • As a Connect Team, we believe that we are called to intentionally create an environment in which every person can belong. We refuse exclusivity and elitism, as we seek out the lonely, the least, and the lost.
  • This looks like going out of our way to welcome those that are new to our church or that are struggling to find people to connect with. One of the goals of our team is to connect people to one another. This means taking time to hear people’s stories, desires, and interests and then helping them to connect to other groups, ministries, and people in our church.

Discipleship In Community

  • The goal of community is not superficiality or purely platonic friendships. The goal of the Christian community is conformity to the Son, the maturity of the Church, and the mission of God.
  • Connections serve an integral part in the discipleship endeavors of HOUSE Denver, as we seek to encourage people in their pursuit of God, helping them to connect to the ministries and groups where they can grow in God with others.

Courage For All (Operating in the Prophetic)

  • We are called to give courage to the Church. This is what prophecy is all about. As a team, we want to earnestly desire the spiritual gifts, and especially that we would prophesy.
  • Whether we are welcoming someone on a Sunday, or following up with a guest, we desire to be a people that speaks life, encourages, and gives comfort through the Holy Spirit to every person we encounter.
