We seek to ensure a safe and welcoming environment, as the HOUSE body gathers together to commune, learn, and minister to the Lord through prayer and worship. Distractions and major safety risks can arise unexpectedly in any public gathering, so it’s important to have a few attentive people around the building during service to coordinate with other team leads and staff, and de-escalate situations before risks increase.
The HOUSE Usher Team, which consists of 2-3 volunteers assigned to a single service time, maintains situational awareness for the church to allow the church body to freely and safely encounter the Lord.
Ushers stand ready to assist anyone in the congregation who might need help, whether in finding a seat, in exiting an unwanted conversation or interaction, or with a friendly face and intentional prayer over someone clearly working through a tough season. Ushers help monitor the facility in coordination with the lobby security guard, giving extra attention to those entering the building and HOUSE Kids areas. Aside from brief times at the beginning and end of service to perform Usher specific duties, the team is encouraged to participate in worship and listen to the sermon.
The Usher Team is for any man that has the heart of a shepherd, love for the people of the church, and a desire to promote an atmosphere of reverence and worship in the house of God. Serving as an Usher requires cordiality and wisdom, friendliness, and a willingness to serve.
